What to do with WIKIs, blogs, glogs, Photo Story, etc.?

Wow, that 's a lot of 2.0. I have to say I really like the blog and will probably continue it. In fact, I think I'm going to link it to my Facebook account. That way all those people who keep up with Facebook will know what's going on with me since I never update my Facebook account. The WIKI I'm not sure about whether or not I will continue with it. I know I'll use the video I made with Photo Story for orientation next year and will probably even add to it before then. I think I'll try to make some other videos and see how I like them. I'm not sure what the subjects will be yet, but I did like the process of making the video. The glog I like, also. I may try to talk some teachers into using one for the product of a research project and letting me help with the technology part. I have really enjoyed learning about all of this and hope to move forward as a digital immigrant into the brave new world!

What a week!

I'm conducting my first RIF distribution this week, so things are very busy. Oh and by the way, for those of you who commented on my fall last week, I actually did fracture my rib. The doctor said for me not to pick up anything over 20 pounds and to restrict my pushing and pulling of heavy objects. I asked her if she had forgotten that I was a librarian and she just smiled. Oh, the life of a librarian!

Chester Raccoon and the Acorn Full of Memories

Chester Raccoon is very sad because his friend, Skiddil Squirrel is not coming back to school due to a fatal accident. His mother
lovingly tries to explain to him that Skiddil is dead.
She then tries to ease his pain by asking him to remember the things that Skiddil liked to do and encourages him to "make a memory" by finding something concrete that he can keep to remember Skiddil. They go to the place where Skiddil buried his acorns and find some young oak trees growing. Chester picks up an acorn from the ground as his "memory" of Skiddil.
I chose this book because it seems that everyday in the news we are hearing about young children that are dying tragically and I believe that literature is a way to work through our pain and heartache.

Technology Conference

Well,I'm almost done with my training today. Of course, I haven't been lucky enough to win anything at my sessions, but maybe I'll win something at the big giveaway at the end. Did learn some new things about the ELMO, though, so that's exciting. My last session is starting. TTYL

Another long day at Stevens Park!

Well, once again we are staying late to look at data. Can I just say that I'm sick of data?Am I allowed to say that out loud? It seems like we are always looking at the data, but rarely doing anything beyond that except for the students that need intervention. When do the others get a break?

It's heck getting old!!!!!

Well, I did it. I tripped and fell in the library yesterday. Fortunately, there were no students there to watch me crash and burn! I got my foot caught in the handle of a book bag full of books and I went straight down on top of a stool. Caught my ribs on the edge of the stool, broke my glasses (don't know how since I didn't hit my head on anything) and got a huge knot on my arm where I banged it on the computer desk.
Oh well, today is another day. Hopefully, I'll stay upright all day.

Exciting read

I'm almost finished reading "Adam" by Ted Dekker - a really good psychological thriller about a serial killer. I love it when you get toward the end and they've almost figured out how to catch the bad guy!

What a day!

Well, this morning I took CPR training and I'm fully certified for a year. It was quite a lot of fun. I really enjoyed practicing on the dummy and pretending it was someone else!!!

Apparently, I'm a librarian who can't read!

Well, once again I've shot myself in the foot trying to get everything done ahead of the pack. Of course, I missed the one thing I was supposed to blog about and "blabbed" about everything else!
The difference between a blog and a WIKI to me is that a blog is kind of like a diary or a journal, but not quite as private. The WIKI is more about work or it seems that way to me. The blog seems more casual than a WIKI.

Working hard!!

Boy, am I tired this afternoon! Last night I changed my closet from spring & summer clothes to fall & winter ones. Moved my summer shoes to the bottom of the closet under all the hanging clothes and put my winter shoes up on the shelves so I could see them.
Today, I'm dividing my RIF books into 3 distributions. I'm pooped!!! Happy to be getting things done, though.
