Had a great time at TLA in Austin last week!

Still going through all the free books I picked up. Trying to decide which one to read first. Of course, I still have a pile by my bed that I've been planning to read, too.

OMG - Web 2.0 Overload!!

My brain is  whirling right now with all the new online tools I learned about yesterday. I can't wait to get home and actually explore them all and really think about all the ways I can use them  in the library at school to get students and teachers excited about learning this 2nd semester. As we all know the dreaded TAKS monsoon is on us now, when all real learning comes to a halt and test prep is all that matters (or so it seems).
I just used the most fabulous tool ever. It's called Paper Show. It's a pen that you can use to write on paper and it shows up on the screen just like you were  using a SMART pen on a SMART Board - very cool!!

The early bird catches the worm!

Well, Ms. House is in fine form this morning! First on the shuttle to the Austin Convention Center for the TCEA conference and first at the door to the SMART Playground. I can't wait to get in there and start "swinging"! 

Couldn't sleep at all last night,so this might be a record day for consumption of caffeinated drinks :-)

Started a good book this morning by Patricia Reilly Giff, Storyteller. (Gotta keep earnin' my pay while I'm here)

Cold weather days - who knew?

As long as I've worked for Dallas, I can't remember being off for 3 days due to the temperature. It's crazy. I really didn't think we were going to use our bad weather days this year and now we'll have to make up more than 2 days. I so wish there was something better on TV this week!

Hooray for MLK Day!!

What a fast moving 2 weeks since we've been back at school. I'm already behind on my New Year's resolution to write on my blog at least once a week! I guess technically I'm within the time period, but I feel behind! Can't wait to sleep late on Monday. This is what my life has come to - looking forward to sleeping. How sad is that!

What a fabulously beautiful place to visit! My whole family went during the Christmas break. My mother has always wanted us to experience a white Christmas, so this was the year we did it. The snow was so enchanting and invigorating. We had a fantastic time. All my nieces and nephews skied and had a great time. Of course, I shopped and read. I finished Immanuel's Veins by Ted Dekker - a very different story. I really enjoyed it.
